Becoming a Super Randonneur qualifies you to participate in brevets of 1000 km or longer, and also allows you to apply for the renowned Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) event. The next PBP will take place in 2023.

  • The medal can be purchased for ₩15,000
  • Design and serial number remain the same for 4 years (2020–2023)
  • Available for purchase at the brevet finish point (if in stock)

KR5000

Although there is an international award for completing an official cumulative 5000 km of brevets, Korea Randonneurs has prepared its own special award. Owning this medal will be a truly rare and remarkable achievement. The following are the minimum requirements to earn the KR5000 honor, and all of these brevets must be successfully completed within the same year.

This award is given to members who complete Brevet, Permanent, Fleche, Zwift events, LRM, SR-600 held in Korea at least once per month during the year, as indicated by members who complete at least one event per month.

The awardees will be listed on the award list and will receive a special medal.

Baekdudaegan Challenge

If you successfully complete the four most challenging permanents that cross the Baekdudaegan mountain range within one year, you will receive a special certificate and be listed on the official honor roll.
The qualifying permanents are listed below.

You can order the medal (₩15,000)

Adventure Series

Adventure Permanents take you through rough terrain and remote small roads, showcasing some of the most beautiful scenery in Korea. Participants need to be in good condition and perfectly prepared. Always exercise caution. Progress may be difficult in bad weather. It can be dangerous if the snow hasn't melted, it's raining, or just after it has rained. Watch out for falling rocks, sand, and leaves on the road. Be sure to bring cleat covers or spare shoes. Carbon wheelsets for rim brakes are not recommended.

If you complete six different Adventure Permanents from the Adventure Series, you will receive a special certificate and be listed in the Korea Randonneurs honors list. There is no time limit for completion. Completing 12 or 24 Adventure Permanents will earn additional recognition. If you successfully complete 24 Adventure Permanents, you can order a commemorative medal (₩15,000, scheduled for shipment around March 2022).

Paldo Challenge

"Paldo" refers to Korea's traditional administrative regions before the establishment of metropolitan cities and special cities, where Jeju Island was considered part of Jeolla Province. This challenge involves completing rides in eight different provinces within a year. Metropolitan cities such as Seoul are excluded, but Jeju Island is included. Among the nine provinces shown on the map, completing rides in eight of them qualifies you as a Paldo Challenge awardee. A medal is awarded to the recipients. The rules are as follows:

  • Official brevets, permanents, and SR600 are all acceptable.
  • Results before 2021/01/01 are not accepted.
  • Only the province of the official starting point is counted.
  • Only the official starting location of the course is recognized, not the actual departure location.
  • Upon completing the challenge, participants must compile their results and email Jan Boonstra(janboonstra49@gmail.com).
  • This award can only be received once.

From River to Sea Challenge

"From River to Sea" Challenge requires completing four segments from Seoul to the southern port city of Tongyeong. This course was designed to showcase the beautiful landscapes and rural roads of Korea. A special award will be given to those who complete all four permanents within a year.

  • The four segments are PT-72, PT-137, PT-174, PT-34
  • The second segment PT-137 can be substituted with PT-75

ACP Issuance Awards

The awards from ACP, the higher organization based in Paris, include Randonneur 5000 (R5000), Randonneur 10000 (R10000), and SR-600 (refer to the Super Randonneur course information).

To receive the ACP awards, the application must be submitted to ACP by October 31st of the year in which the award conditions are met. The Korea Randonneurs operation team will assist members who wish to apply for ACP awards.
Please refer to the webpage linked below (in English) for the award conditions.

Best Rider award

The award is given to members who report the correct order and method, in accordance with the regulations, for the start/finish/CPs of the permanent riding.

Regulations
  • It is awarded to those who complete 10 permanents (or SR600) in a year and report correctly. (In 2021, it is enough to complete 5 permanents in the remaining 6 months.)
  • It is awarded once a year, and the winner will be listed on the homepage’s prestigious winners list.
  • Once certification is complete in the group chat, the certification of the group participants will be recorded individually.
  • Jan will confirm that the certification is done correctly, and will notify the participant once 100% correct certification is achieved.
  • DNQ is awarded only if the completion time exceeds the limit. DNF is not applicable.
Correct Reporting Method
  • Do not send any messages other than the required photos and necessary information for certification.
  • Send all certification photos immediately after taking them.
  • When departing, send a photo or digital copy of the waiver form. (Make sure all fields are filled in and the signature is visible clearly.) Send the 'photo' via KakaoTalk (choose album or camera). File transfers will not allow certification confirmation.
  • Make sure to register or change your permanent number before departure. (If you applied with PT-00, you need to change the PT number).
  • Only send the following information via KakaoTalk: membership number, Korean name, PT (or SR) number, CP number (if starting from a CP instead of the departure point).
  • Departure certification photos should be a selfie where both your face and the departure point background are clearly identifiable. The time of sending the departure photo will be recorded as the official start time.
  • Certifications must continue in the same chat room.
  • For CP certification, send only one photo that clearly shows the CP number, your face, and the CP background. Do not send the name of the area or location of the CP.
  • When you arrive at the finish point, send a photo where your face and the finish point background are clearly identifiable, along with a message such as 'I have arrived', 'finish', 'completed', 'done'.
  • Within 6 hours of arrival, send a photo of the completed permanent sheet.
  • SR600 has a different certification method from regular permanents. When certifying at departure, CP, and arrival points, send a photo where the "frame badge attached to the bicycle and the background" are clearly identifiable.

Galmaegi Challenge

The total distance of the 3 connected permanents from Seoul to Busan is 623 km. The details are as follows:

  • PT-171 Seoul - Boryeong 207 km
  • PT-172 Boryeong - Gimcheon 209 km
  • PT-173 Gimcheon - Busan 207 km

When completed together, it is called the "Galmaegi Challenge," and if you successfully complete the 3 permanents within a year, the Galmaegi Award will be given. The order of completion doesn't matter. Your name will be registered on the award list, and you can order a medal (₩ 15,000).

This is a new challenge for those who enjoy long flat courses. You need to complete PT-33 (370km) and PT-38 (330km) consecutively for a total of 700km. Both permanents start and finish at Banpo, Seoul.

  • The rest time between the two permanents should be within 6 hours.

The order in which you complete the two permanents does not matter. Awardees will have their names listed on the website's award list, and a certificate will be awarded. There is no medal for this award.

If you want to experience strawberries during this challenge, detour briefly onto the North Han River bicycle path just before crossing the river on the way to Yangpyeong. (2 x 1.8km, heading towards Gapyeong) Both PT-33 and PT-38 apply. At the North Han River bicycle path, you can enjoy delicious strawberry drinks and toast at O-Sam-Pam Strawberry Farm.
